2011 White Oak Classic

The White Oak Classic Sled Dog Race took place on Saturday, January 8, 2011. The race began Saturday morning in Deer River. The eight dog race ended in Northome. Northome was the midpoint and the stop over for the ten dog race which ended in Marcel Sunday morning. Teams began arriving in Northome in late afternoon. After resting, the ten dog teams left Northome between 10:30 PM and 1:30 AM Sunday morning. Northland Progressive sponsored a kids sled dog race and a best ball snow golf contest starting at 1 PM. Below are photographs of the day's activities.

KIDS SLED DOG RACES
Northland Progressive sponsored a Kids Sled Dog Race at Northome School early Saturday afternoon. This year twelve area kids took part in the races.

FIRST ANNUAL BEST BALL SNOW GOLF TOURNAMENT
Five three person teams participated in the tournament. There was a first place tie between the team of Mike Lorenzen, Karen Lorenzen, and Riley Berg and the team of Derrick Wickum, Scott Larson, and Bob Stueven. Steve Heald won the prize for the longest drive from the 9th tee.
