The White Oak Classic Sled Dog Race took place on Saturday, January 9, 2010. The race began Saturday morning in Deer River. The eight dog race ended in Northome. Northome was the midpoint and the stop over for the ten dog race which ended in Marcel Sunday morning. Teams began arriving in Northome in late afternoon. After resting, the ten dog teams left Northome between 10:30 PM and 1:30 AM Sunday morning. Northome Progressive sponsored a kids sled dog race and a smooshing contest starting at 1 PM.
